Memory Lane - Root Down in the Shadow

Much to the chagrin of one of my all-time best friends Karl, my memories of 'Root Down' are not really from driving around with him, but instead younger bro Kenny in the maroon Dodge Shadow.  The Senkow experience was really a shared collective.  You were expected to live life to the fullest, and enjoy yourself along the way.  This was probably best shown by their dad who still did his best to do cheerleading exercises with their sibling, Kirsten, despite being at least twice her age. Karl and I shared a great love for the Beastie Boys, and "our" disc was the Root Down EP .   Check Your Head and Ill Communication were memories most associated with another all time great pal,"Bud", and ' Paul's Boutique ' were college memories with my old roomie Brandt, likewise '' Licensed To Ill ' is shared with the rest of the world.  But as any collective goes, it's the parts are interchangeable.  Karl went onto follow his love to Florida,

Cover Song of the Week- Don't Tell Me (Stop) by Madonna, (original by Joe Henry)

Please don't judge my blog based on the quality of my first cover artist.  The Queen of Pop,  Madonna, is my first cover artist that I have decided to write about.  It's not because am a big Madonna fan, although she is awesome, but I'm really not a mega fan.  I was listening to my "Pilfer Era Best Of" play list, which is top rated songs from 1999 to 2002 today while out doing my real world pursuit of writing estimates on cars.  I came across ' Don't Tell Me ' by Madonna and immediately started thinking of a potential music blog.  The Madonna version is lighter than many of her songs from the last 10 years and almost soulful.  It certainly would not be heard in the clubs with other songs of hers such as , ' Four Minutes ' or ' Music '.  The songs features a cool beat with some light tweaking over the beat. The original artist is Joe Henry.  I qualify this, because the Madonna version actually came out first on an album, but Joe H

As many of you know, much of my life has revolved around listening to music, searching for more and sharing what I've found.  Ironically, I do nothing in the field, except hover in the shadows of those that do.  The time spent sharing my love of music has dwindled due to this whole growing up thing.  However my love for music and time thinking of it has yet to dwindle. Other variables in my life are starting to change yet again, opening up the ever so exciting thoughts of what I'm going to do new or different.  With these changes, I've become even more inspired for change listening to an Avett Brothers' song - 'Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise'.         When nothing is owed or deserved or expected         And your life doesn’t change by the man that’s elected         If you’re loved by someone, you’re never rejected         Decide what to be and go be it The Avett Brothers' lyrics have really struck a chord with me, that I nee
