Artist Spotlight - Israel Nash

Israel Nash at the Malvern Summer Stage : Photo by Dan McGurk Israel Nash @ Non-Comm : Photo by Dan McGurk It's been a busy year for Israel Nash and band.  In support of the timeless Rain Plains album they came to Philadelpia for a WXPN Free At Noon, The 15th Annual NON-COMMvention, Malvern Summer Stage, and XPoNential Festival.  While each of these could have been essentially short promotional sets, that didn't stop the band from giving everything they had each time. After being wowed at Non-Comm and Malvern Summer Stage, we knew we wanted to catch up with Israel Nash to see what the connection is between band and WXPN, the radio support behind these shows.   Check out our XPoNential Festival preview , featuring Israel Nash..    Click the interview below to see Israel's thoughts on WXPN, XPoNential Festival, and what brings them back for more! : To hear their whole XPoNential Festival set... check out the player WXPN's The Key ...

Break In Fund Raiser Show! a Preview with TJ Kong, Mat Burke, Ali Wadsworth, Penrose, and Levee Drivers

So our pal Mat Burke had the bad luck of getting his place broken into a few months ago.  To overcome the major shortfall that isn't covered by Mat's numerous jobs, he's doing things to raise money in the only way that he knows how: a "Break In Fundraiser."  Here's what Mat has to say about the event: "As many of you know my home was broken into shortly after christmas. The burglars ended up stealing around 10,000 dollars of my stuff. Bummer I know but the really bad thing about all of this was that about 5-6 thousand of that wasn't even my stuff. It was mics, mixing boards, pedals and other odds and ends i was borrowing from a studio for the recording of my new record. Underground Arts and their awesome staff has donated the room and the staffs time to help raise money in hopes of paying back the studio and replacing the equipment that has been stolen. Every dollar of the ticket sales will go toward this. We will also be holdin...

Communion Philly Returns November 7th, 2013 at Underground Arts

NEW LIVE INITIATIVE CONTINUES IN NORTH AMERICA The Communion Tour continues in the United States for its second month.  Molded from the successful '20 “Austin to Boston Tour” (featuring Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Staves and Bear’s Den ) Communion started a tour bringing different artists to nine cities each month: New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Bloomington, Louisville, Nashville, Minneapolis, Madison and Rock Island. The second series, in November, will feature Tennis , Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Savoire Adore , On An On and additional support from local artists.  Looking back at October..... The Communion Philadelphia session, at the nearly sold-out Johnny Brenda's was quite an event.  Thinking in terms of founders Ben Lovett (of Mumford & Sons) and Kevin Jones (Bear's Den ) as the brains behind the Communion tour, and seeing Willy Mason , Birdie Busch and Roadkill Ghost Choir on the bill, I expected somewhat of a...
