David Wax Museum & Kingsley Flood breakthrough into Delaware @ World Cafe Live - May 9th, 2013

Finally the time had come, nearly 6 months after downloading Kinglsey Flood 's 'Roll The Dice' last November, I had my chance to see Kingsley Flood in all their live and plugged in glory.  When listening to the band, I could just envision the raucous party that would be going on during one of their sets and I couldn't wait to be part of it!  As luck would have it they would be opening for the David Wax Museum , one of the most creative bands of the last five years and one of my favorites to see live. Things started off great at World Cafe Live - Wilmington, DE.  I met up with some music friends and got a great spot at a table equidistant from the bar & stage!  Once the music started I couldn't stifle myself, and I had to get up onto the dance floor.  Kingsley Flood had the whole band jumping around, doing their best David Wax impressions (see previous review s: David Wax is the king of engaging the crowd by going into the crowd and venue during sets)....

Sofar Sounds: Philadelphia - April 6th, 2013 Sofar Sounds: Philadelphia 4-6-2013    Here's the March review          Here's the January review ** All photos from Lindsey Borgman**       http:// www.flickr.com/ photos/linky-b/ For those of you that don't know what Sofar Sounds is here's their story: "We have created a movement which brings music lovers together in secret living room locations to hear some of the world's most cutting edge artists." The first month I got involved with Sofar, I was impressed by how exciting things were, how intimate it was. During the second event, it became clear to me that I was not alone in this recognition. Fans were back, previous artists were in attendance, we were all waiting for magic to happen. The historic 10th show for the Philadelphia team was a culmination of all the great things learned from the previous shows. Even with two returning ba...

Kinglsey Flood - Battles Album Review

Boston band Kingsley Flood first came to my attention late last year.  I had been browsing the Boston Music Award ballot for bands to check out.  A favorite of mine The David Wax Museum was up for another award, so I wanted to see who the competition was.  With the internets at my fingertips I was quickly was smitten with Kingsley Flood.  I found ' Roll The Dice ' from the 2010 debut Dust Windows , and 'I Don't Wanna Go Home ' and ' Wonderland ' from the 2012 EP Colder Still.  According to my friends as long as it's a Dylan derivative, I must love it.   Oversimplifications aside, these guys had my attention; the songs were loud, bouncy, fun, catchy, and everything missing from a lot of music today!  All the singles jump out screaming HEY LISTEN TO ME!!!! Checking them out further, I found they have racked up many awards in the past few years.  Kingsley Flood has been named New Artist of the Year at the 2010 Boston Music Awards, has been featu...
