Somehow Sofar Sounds : Philadelphia is hitting their 4th Anniversary.
The now world-wide phenomenon was a few shy of twenty cities world-wide
when Philadelphia joined the ranks. These days, the shows are all over
the globe and it seems like there are just shy of twenty dates in NYC
alone each month. It all startThed in London, back in 2009, and slowly
spread during the next two years to New York, Paris, DC, Los Angeles,
Pune India, Houston, Brighton, Seattle, New Dehli, Sydney, Madrid,
Berlin, Toronto, Dallas-Forth Worth, and Glasgow before hitting the City
of Brotherly Love.
During the next 10 days I'm going to look back at four years of Sofar Sounds: Philadelphia trying to give my version of the best videos. Please comment and share what were your favorites.
#10 DRGN King - Undertow
This December '14 Sofar Sounds: Philadelphia show was so much fun. Ugly holiday sweaters, holiday covers from each band, super festive decorations, not to mention tasty food & drink. This video with Dominic Angelella of DRGN King showcases the mood with all the fans dressed up with the mood highlighted by the holiday twinkle lights. It's even better as Dom barely looks up, getting into the new track.
#9 To Kill A King - Rays
If there is one thing Sofar Sounds : Philadelphia coordinator Carolyn Lederach does better than finding new impact talent from the area, it's finding new impact talent from across the pond. In yet another feat of scheduling wizardry, she brought To Kill A King stateside to show off tunes from Cannibals With Cutlery.
These Sofar Sounds veterans played a fantastic stripped down set for the Fishtown crowd. Do yourself a favor and go grab some of their tunes if you are unfamiliar.
