Today the new Satellite Hearts single "Doing Things Right" was released via Bandcamp.  To get the fans pumped and ready for their brand new song, the band has been releasing bits of their past.

To join in the excitement, here are all the tidbits and videos that the band shared today!

1st Show
To coincide with the release "DOING THINGS RIGHT", tomorrow night at 7PM, we'd like to share where we've been and how we've led up to where we are now! We'll be posting a bit about our history leading up to tomorrow night....here's a pic from our first show at Mcguinn's Place in Lawrenceville, NJ, way back in February 2010.

First Show at Walla Fest
Here's "IMPERIAL GREEN" for you folks from our first show at Walla Fest!!! From 2010 -2012 we played extensively in Philly and throughout the Northeast. In Philly we've played at the Mill Creek Tavern, Connie's Ric Rac, Adobe Cafe (South Philly), The Fire, upstairs at the The Trocadero, house shows, and many other places that we can't remember. Our first show in Philly was at The Draught Horse near Temple University!

IMPERIAL GREEN ALBUM RELEASE
In July of 2012 we had our album release for our debut "IMPERIAL GREEN" at Triumph Brewing Company of New Hope. Check out this raw video from the show of "Bombs!" & "Heavy Fire".

After we released "IMPERIAL GREEN" we played at Penn Ice Rink for the Philly Roller Girls and our friend Brandon filmed us.

"What a crazy scene? Nameless faces race for the headline must be the year of the thief..."

Let's continue the history of the first five years of Satellite Hearts...after "IMPERIAL GREEN" was released guitarist Dre DiMura joined the group, which resulted in the creation of the second phase and our "FOUR TO THE FLOOR" EP have a listen!

Our journey with Dre led to wild shows up in Syracuse University, Vermont, and all over the Northeast including Toronto, Canada for Indie Week...we burned many miles and met many fantastic human beings...take a look from Syracuse! There are many many pictures, but here are a few...

"Why'd you run little babe? You are young and you sting....The beat flies out from nowhere, you gotta start from somewhere, but your life is like a prison and your innocence is treason..."

"You wanna hang me out to dry? You wanna take me out well let's go for ride...you wanna go for a ride???? COME ON!"

Momma Holler The summer of 2013 began our period of backing up other bands/singers...this started with a band called Momma Holler!!! We met newfound friends Ally Pekins, Kirby Sybert, and Chris McFarland...we still hang with Ally & Kirby to this day! Kirby now performs in a group called Up the Chain and Ally is currently writing/recording in NYC. We present MOMMA HOLLER'S "TRAGIC TRAGIC"!

You can find Momma Holler's album, "You Got What You Wanted Here": http://themusicrag.blogspot.com/2013/09/momma-holler-album-update.html

Now during the fall of 2013 we were both Momma Holler and Satellite Hearts...in October we did our first international trip and played at Indie Week in Toronto, CA, for 3 nights. We even played at a venue called The Cage and there was a stage with a cage! Our friend Olivia Alonso Gough documented our adventure to the great north...click the link for exclusive photos and at the bottom of the page click "Next" for more:

Backing Ali Wadsworth
By the end of 2013 we parted ways with Dre and Momma Holler...and started performing with the one and only Ali Wadsworth. This opened up the flood gates to other artists. We became a trio again and started production on 13 songs...one of which you will hear tonight.

One of the first shows we did with Ali was cover Pearl Jam's "TEN" in its entirety. Kyle Perella of Levee Drivers joined us on guitar.

You can discover more of Ali here: http://aliwadsworth.com/

RON GALLO
2014 was a transition period for us...we began rediscovering our sound and ourselves...JP and Keaton moved to Fishtown in Philadelphia and our presence became more vibrant. We also backed up another friend by the name of Ron Gallo who released his debut "Ronny" and was formerly of Toy Soldiers!!! Ron will have some new tunes for you this year as well. DEAN WEEN

CHRIS HARFORD
We've also backed up our friend Chris Harford as his Band Of Changes at John And Peter's in New Hope, PA, a couple times. His musicianship is incredible and he is one of the most humble and unique human being's we've met. Have a listen to his music on the link here: http://chrisharford.com/

SUGAR BURNS
Additionally we've played with our close friend Sugar Burns (AKA Spencer Johnson of New Hope's own Ammunition) and we'll be playing with him at Fran's Pub in New Hope on February 13th. This guy brings an intense energy to the stage look him up!

KUF KNOTZ
Last but not least we met an amazing new friend in Kuf Knotz. and backed him up at the Electric Factory to open up for Ms. Lauryn Hill last November!!! JP also got to play drums with him back in the fall as well and we'll collaborate in the future. Bands Pick The Bands - 2016 XPoNential Music Festival Presented by Subaru - Artists Preview

Wooo Hooooo It's XPoNential Fest Time!!!!  Every year WXPN brings a ton of great bands and artists to the Wiggins Park shore in Camden, NJ.  With so many bands on the line-up it's daunting to figure out which bands to see.  Fortunately, the way WXPN does the line-ups you CAN make it to every band should you choose.  However, we all know it's going to be hot as hell.  Not quite as hot as 2011 with the 100 degree days, but still super hot.   Luckily for us, some of the festival performers have put in their two cents for which bands they are excited about. Rosemary Fiki   starts the fest at 4pm today on the JerseyArts.Com Marina Stage. Let's see what she's recommending: Band Most Excited to Share the Festival Stage with : This is our first time time performing at XPoNential so to be completely honest, I'm super stoked to share the Festival stage with everyone! If I absolutely had to choose, I would say The Districts. We actually shared the stage wit

New Release Q&A - Sonja Sofya answers some questions for "Patterns We Know"

The buzz has been all about Sonja Sofya and her new album The Patterns We Know .  Tonight Sonja Sofya and band take to the stage at Boot & Saddle in South Philly along with a great line-up featuring Arc Divers and the dove and the wolf. Right off the top we have some great reasons to expect great things from this album, such as produced by Ross Bellenoit at Turtle Studios and excellent musicianship by guitarist/producer Ross Bellenoit, bassist Jonathan Colman , and drummers Matt Scarano and Jonas Oesterle . But we at Root Down In The Shadow wanted to dig further and see what Sonja had to say about the album. Here's 3 questions we had for the songstress Sonja Sofya: RDITS: What was the impetus to make a full length record and why did you pick the people you worked with? At a certain point, playing and writing as much as I was, it felt like the logical next step, but I waited for a while, trying to find the "perfect" time to go into the stud

Root Down Is A Sometime Thing...

From the desk of Root Down: Greetings Friends!  It's been a bit, how've ya been? What's new? I've been gone for some time and I feel that I owe everyone an explanation of where I've been.   Honestly, I haven't gone anywhere. Since I've last posted, I've still been frequenting my favorite record store, been hitting up local shows, hosted a few house shows, traveling for special shows, and making music a large part of my life.  What I haven't been doing is losing countless hours fretting over knowing every new artist, tweeting, and losing sleep editing articles that spend less time getting read than I spent writing.  I can definitively tell you that I'm DONE attempting to make Root Down In The Shadow "a thing" in the music world.   I don't need Twitter followers, a lively blog, or anyone else's validation to share my love for music. It doesn't help my enjoyment of music to follow a shit-ton of bands on eve
