Music News across the land and Concert Updates for the Philadelphia Metro area!
- Music News..
It's been a crazy week. I didn't make it to any concerts. I would have loved to have gone to David Wax Museum @ Johnny Brenda's or to see Brett Dennen opening for Amos Lee, but life gets in the way sometimes. Instead, I spent a lot of the week listening to some bands for the first time.
Amongst the recent plays were:
Pearl and The Beard: see NEXT CONCERT below.
HoneyHoney: see my recent FREE music post.
HoneyHoney - Billy Jack by LostHighwayRecords
Bear Hands: A friend just went to see We Were Promised Jetpacks and she gave a shout out to check out Bear Hands as they were a quality opener. I went to their site bearhandsband.com and was immediately pleased. The site's wallpaper is an integrated video player that continues as you browse the site. 'High Society' is the opening track, it's a solid listen with a cool baseline, bouncy beat and simple lyrics. On the site, there is a FREE download for 'Crime Pays' along with remixes of 'High Society', 'Crime Pays is pretty repetitive, but catchy also having a good beat.

NEXT CONCERT(s):
The David Wax Museum - 6/2/11 by billsvillehouseconcerts
This coming Saturday the 19th, I am pumped to see David Wax Museum for the third time this year. This will be my first time for Concerts at the Crossing in Titusville, NJ. so I really don't know what to expect. It's a Unitarian Universalist church, so if it's anything like the 1st Unitarian Church (also a venue) in Philadelphia, it should be a good time. I am also super pumped as we are taking my daughter Molly to see the band. She absolutely loves music and the band encourages dancing at the shows, so I am very eager to see the combo.
Little Molly has so danced her tiny little bum off to Pigeon John, flamed out at the slow pace of the Low Anthem, tired out four songs into Amy Correia, but recovered for a full set at a park for Amy Correia! She has given her thumbs up on David Wax Museum songs, so this should go well. Plus, outside of sharing a deep enjoyment of music Molly loves dresses, so far Suz' dress from Newport Folk Festival is her favorite.
I've done a Featured Artist post, and concert review post for David Wax Museum, so this time I am going to take a look at the opener Pearl and the Beard.
Firework covered by Pearl and the Beard with Sophie Madeleine cover of Katy Perry’s “Firework”
Now that I have your attention, check some of their great songs: 'Sweetness' & 'Oh Death'
'Sweetness' by Pearl and the Beard
'Oh Death' by Pearl and the Beard
NEXT CONCERTS IF I COULD CLONE MYSELF:
TRAMLED BY TURTLES - UNION TRANSFER 11-19
The speed these guys play, yet so brilliantly! WOW!
JEANNINE HEBB 11-19
Members of Buke & Gase, the Dap Kings, amongts others!
