Part of the ongoing series of 'Molly Songs': a weekly look featuring songs that our children will love, but more importantly parents can enjoy as well.
These "Molly Songs" are such a joy to me, finding my daughter enjoys music nearly as much as I do. Being able to share my favorite things with her is incredible. I especially love it when she is listening along and asks who is singing. Even better than that, is when my rambunctious 3 year old makes a request on her own for a band or song.
This week's edition was a must, as it became clear that Molly & I had been keeping some of our songs to ourselves. Just Friday, the wife and a friend and I went to see David Wax Museum at the beautiful Longwood Gardens, in Kennett Square, Pa. Due to the advanced median age of the crowd, after the show the place emptied leaving a few stragglers getting merchandise and the very cool opportunity to chat and get autographs with the band. I was deep in conversation with David Wax, leaving my wife and friend chatting away with Suz Slezak.
Little Molly came up as did her musical tastes. But when asked by Suz if Molly dug David Wax Museum, my wife was left deep in thought, not actually knowing the answer. But YES, Molly does like the David Wax Museum. Hence the Molly Song of the Week, and the latest "single" from the band, 'Yes, Maria, Yes'!
David Wax Museum - Yes Maria Yes
After being left at home during Newport Folk Festival and this latest Longwood Gardens show, Molly should be getting her chance to see the band live for the first time coming up in November. The Internet reviews don't give a thumbs up for us taking her to see David Wax Museum November 4th @ Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia. However, the November 20th show in Titusville NJ - Concerts at the Crossing, looks great to bring our little music fiend. In fact, she'll be FREE!!!!

my my, molly's got grown up taste -- or perhaps it's the fast, funky beat. i can see her dancing to that.
ReplyDeleteHey Abby! Tempo is definitely a key factor. Fun lyrics work as well.
ReplyDelete"You invite me into your kitchen.
For Huitlacoche and Armadillo
I talk talk Talk, but you don't listen
i talk talk talk, but you don't listen
You've had your fill"
but before we crown her with impeccable taste, just wait until the next installment
